The taste of Dalmatia and Istria

Dalmatian cuisine has certainly, because of the choice of ingredients and the method of preparation, the characteristics of a healthy nutrition. Istrian cuisine is considered just as exquisite as the Dalmatian cuisine. It is also one of the main reasons why visiting this peninsula is hard to forget and why tourists and other visitors often come back.
Of course in the first place is fish, which is usually prepared on a grill, stew or boiled, crustaceans and molluscs.
Traditional dishes hosts gladly spice with bay leaf, garlic, and olive oil.
Dalmatian meat specialty is beef stew with dumplings, while traditional Dalmatian desserts are fritters and flan.
Dalmatian prosciutto and wine are specialties that rare guests can resist and we strongly recommend to taste the meat and potatoes baked in a special way.
Istrian cuisine is considered just as exquisite as the Dalmatian cuisine. It is also one of the main reasons why visiting this peninsula is hard to forget and why tourists and other visitors often come back.    
Istria is one of very few places that offer top quality fish and other seafood dishes. Here you can visit the so-called fish festivals, where you can try different types of fish, shellfish and calamari, as well as other seafood specialties. If you enjoy a good pasta, you will fall in love with Istrian pašta, especially the favourites: pljukanci and fuži.  
If you wish to try the traditional Istrian meat dish, we would definitely recommend boškarin steak. Boškarin is autochthonous Istrian ox. The exquisite taste of its meat was recognized by many tourists, who consider it as one of the defining features of the region.  
If you want to add a little something to your main dish, we recommend Istrian truffles, which give the food a distinctive and intensive taste. They can also be processed and made into different spreads, cheeses or oil.
